Sale-A-Bration: Tessellation Cards are perfect for guys
Looking for a guy card that doesn’t feature flowers or cutesy images? Try a tessellation-style image, like this one from the Madison Avenue stamp set (available for free only thru the end of this week – 129660).
What’s a tessellation? Good question! A tessellation is a repeating pattern where a symmetrical design element fits together over and over again – kind of like the alhambra element above. Want to learn more about tessellations? Here’s an art site devoted to tessellations.
The little punch pieces that fit perfectly with this stamp set are from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (see it online – 118309).
Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration ends this Friday, March 22nd!

Cross My Heart: Sweet & Simple Birthday Card
Need a sweet and simple card idea? Got a package of Note Cards & Envelopes handy? (see them online) The Cross My Heart stamp set (see it online) is perfect for all occasions and great for guy cards.
Love this Designer Series Paper pattern? It’s from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (SAB – free item – #127540). And when you use the Stampin’ Distress Tool (see it online – 127562) to add texture to the edge of the paper, then you can see both sides at once. No need to pick which side of the paper you like better

Peace: Scentsational Season Sweet & Simple
This card was the fav of several people at my Christmas Card Stamp A Stack this morning. They liked the clean lines and the blue/green color combination with the Christmas tree from the Scentsational Season stamp set (check out the stamp set).
The letters are from the Typeset Alphabet Bigz die set for the Big Shot (see the letters online). I love having a full alphabet handy for my Big Shot. If you’re looking for a Christmas Wish List item, this is a great die set to add to your list! If you have family or friends looking for gift items for you, be sure to send them my online store link, or have them contact me directly. I can help them shop for exactly what you’ll want!
I love that the Holiday Collection Framelits that coordinate with the stamps in this set are available as a bundle at 15% off! (see the bundle online)
If you’re not signed up for tonight’s Christmas Card Stamp A Stack, be sure to check the details for my November class — we’ll be making another round of Christmas cards on November 19th!

When You Need 250 Christmas Cards…
How many Christmas cards are you planning to make this year? When you’re thinking of making a large number (whether 40 or 400) then it’s important to pick the right design and layout.
Here’s a great card for duplicating – for several reasons:
- Card Base: it’s the Note Cards & Envelopes (see them online) so they come 20 to a package, pre-scored and with envelopes included
- Ribbon: you can get your roll for free with a September order of $40 or more – (shop now or click to learn more). Plus the knot is low-profile and shouldn’t cost extra postage to mail
- Stamps: the simple stamping with the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set (see it online) will be speedy and have a terrific impact – the bold images are perfect!
Looking for other ideas for Christmas card layouts you can make in large numbers? Here are a few links to past projects on my blog:
- Clean & Simple stamping ideas - simple stamping, but great overall effects
- Stamping 101 - basic stamping ideas to get you started with colors & layouts
- Workshop Projects – ideas that I shared as Make & Take projects at events

Perfectly Preserved Treat Bags: jars of love
Yesterday I shared a Perfectly Preserved project that didn’t use the jar (see the full stamp set). Today’s project uses the jar – and the sweet little pear! All the pieces cut out here are from the matching Cannery Set Framelits (see them online – 127822), except the little banner. I love that it’s so easy to make perfect layers with the pieces!
These little gift bags are about 4″ x 4″ on the front — perfect size for a little 1/2 pint jar or a bunch of cookies. The nice thing about little bags is that you can put little gifts in them! Little treats that would make someone’s day. Can you imagine getting this from a friend for no special reason at all?
Here are the quick steps for this project:
- Cut down a paper lunch bag of your choice (a 4×8″ bag here, cut to 4 x 4″).
- Cut Designer Series Paper to layer on the bag front – either covering the entire bag front or leaving the bag edges showing. (Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper is a happy match with kraft lunch sacks – see it online – 126895)
- Decorate as desired & fill with treats!
Don’t forget that when you order $40 from my online store in September, you get a roll of the Stitched Satin Ribbon for free! You can pick the Raspberry Ripple that I used above (perfect with Orchard Harvest DSP) or you can pick any of the other 2012-2014 In Colors!
Want to see MORE IDEAS with the Stitched Satin Ribbon? Here are a bunch on my blog – if you order $80, you’d get 2 rolls free. Or $200 and get all 5 colors.

Perfectly Preserved – no jars needed
Have you seen the Perfectly Preserved stamp set in the Holiday Catalog yet? (see it now) My first thought was that I don’t can, so didn’t think I’d use it. Good thing I didn’t listen to myself and got it anyway
There is a lot more to this set than just the jar. The ‘thank you’, flower and stem are all from Perfectly Preserved, and you can even get the stamp set with the Framelit bundle for a 15% discount!
I’m calling the technique Rainbow Smudge, and this is what we’re making at Stamp Club at my house today:
Here are the steps for the Rainbow Smudge Technique:
- Tear a piece of scratch paper and hold it to make your mask.
- Use Sponge Daubers to add ink in a circular motion (burnishing), beginning with the lighted color first.
- Add colors as desired, working the ink into the paper until the color tones are smooth (no lines).
- Keep the mask on the card and stamp a silhouette image (ie from Perfectly Preserved used here).
Very simple, but very effective! Here’s a place to let your colors shine — the colors you pick set the mood for your project. This could be a GREAT guy card idea – just pick guy colors like oranges and blues to go with the Early Espresso.
Stamps: Perfectly Preserved; Inks: Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Pumpkin Pie, Gumball Green, Early Espresso; Paper: Gumball Green Core’dinations Card Stock, Very Vanilla; Accessories: Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon, Small Oval Punch, Stampin’ Sanding System, Big Shot, Chevron Textured Embossing Folder, Sponge Daubers;

Meeeoooow: Cat Talk for Thank You
Yesterday was my morning card club for a group of friends who love to get together, stamp and catch up. Really, who doesn’t love a chance to catch up with friends? We made 4 cards, so I’ll be sharing those in the next week or so, but I wanted to start with the Animal Talk card (see the stamp set).
It’s a thank you note – and I also wanted to thank you all for watching my blog, stamping with me over the past year and helping to make my job so wonderful!
In a recent status update on Facebook, I posted that I was laughing to be getting a pedicure to prepare for my Stampin’ Up! trip to St. George Utah, wearing my Stampin’ Up! flip flops from the Stampin’ Up! Western Caribbean Cruise in 2005, and paying using my Stampin’ Up! visa gift card, all with a friend that I’d probably never be lucky enough to know without our association through, yes, Stampin’ Up!.
Have I mentioned that I love my job?
If you {heart} cats, or punny stamp sets, you’ll want to see more of this one.
Don’t forget about the free ribbon special this month! This is a great card to feature the Stitched Satin Ribbon rolls that you can pick up for free with your $50 order during September (through my online store).
I’m off to St. George, Utah for the annual Founder’s Circle Trip with Stampin’ Up!! Thanks again to you all for helping me achieve Founder’s Circle again this year! Here are a few of my posts from previous years. And you can watch my blog for new posts this week

I just can’t get over the cute-factor on the little owl! Plus the stamp set includes birthday and Christmas accessories, and it’s perfect for Halloween.
Actually, I had so much fun creating with this set that I picked it for my new Stamps in the Mail Club Round — beginning this month. (learn more about Stamps in the Mail)
