Swallowtail: A little embellishment goes a long way
I think in all my years of stamping, I’ve only seen 1-2 stamps EVER that come close to meeting the beauty of the Swallowtail stamp (see it online – 129216).
These easy note cards are created using the Note Cards & Envelopes (see them online). I absolutely adore using the Note Cards for elegant yet simple projects.
I know the Swallowtail image is huge — nearly bigger than a standard card front (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). Don’t let it intimidate you!
Here are a few of my suggestions for using it:
- Use only a portion of the butterfly (like in the samples here)
- Go monochromatic – a single color shows off the beauty in the stamp perfectly
- Heat emboss the butterfly – be sure to use high end embossing powder (like from Stampin’ Up!) to capture all the detail
Happy Stamping!

It’s that time again! Yup, time to sign up for a new Round of my Stamps in the Mail Club! This Round (#25!) we’ll be featuring the FOR THE BIRDS stamp set from the 2012-2013 catalog. Stamps in the Mail Club is the perfect chance to add this set to your collection, AND receive ideas for using it!
Plus during the November/December/January Round, you’ll have a chance to stamp cards all-occasions cards — stamping should be fun, not stress you out. So we won’t focus on Christmas cards during this busy time, because I want you to enjoy your kit (not worry about not getting things done in time!).

Owl Occasions Vellum Gift Card Holder
What? Owl Occasions? But there’s no owl here!
That’s right — there are so many stamps in this set that you don’t actually need to use the owl every time
(see the full set online) This is a gift card holder that I created for my Stamps in the Mail Club last month, using just the balloon from Owl Occasions and the “Celebrate!” from the Seasonal Sayings stamp set (see it online).
Here’s the holder with the tag/card part pulled out:
The tag is from the Two Tags Die (love it – see it online) and the actual gift card holder is created with a strip of card stock on the back of the card insert.
I use that Two Tags die all the time – here are a few more ideas on my blog. It’s such a fun shape, plus flexible with the two different tags included on one die.
And yes, I love my job – nice to get a $150 shopping spree sometimes! Part of this one paid for my pedicure before the Founder’s Circle Trip!

Owl Occasions: see you at Christmas!
When I think of Christmas tags, the first Big Shot die that jumps to mind is the Two Tags Die (see it online). In fact, I’ve used it for quite a few projects on my blog, both tag-specific and not!
Pair that great die with the fun new Owl Occasions stamp set (see it online) and you have a match made for Christmas (or pretty much any occasion).
The tags are great for gifts labeling, or you can turn them into cute little bookmarks. I don’t know about you, but we use a TON of bookmarks at our house.
The punch for the tag shape is the Decorative Label Punch (see it online) which is also on LOTS of my past blog projects. The little owl from Owl Occasions is even cute in small doses – you don’t have to see the whole owl to get the right cuteness factor!
Finally don’t forget that Owl Occasions in the stamp set you’ll receive as part of my August Stamps in the Mail Club Kit. I still have 4 spots open – let me know ASAP if you’d like to sign up!
Stamps in the Mail is a great chance to make fun projects and have ALL your supplies right on hand. My club is going on 6 years — and going strong. Now is a great time to see what all the fuss is about!
We also made these tags as one of the Make N Take projects at our Demonstrator Meeting last Friday night. I’d love to have you join us as my guest, or as a new Demonstrator on my LovenStampfuls Team!! Don’t forget the fun SPOOKTACULAR project kit that you’ll receive as a bonus when you sign up before the end of August!
UPDATED — the Spooktacular Special is available when you sign up until September 16th!!!
Happy Stamping!

VBS: Up, Up & Away We Go!
When I say life is a whirlwind during the week of Vacation Bible School at our church, it’s totally in theme this year! Our theme changes each year (check out past decorations). The theme for this week’s VBS is “Sky: Anything is possible with God’s love” and the decor is all things sky-related. Picture blue sky, clouds, balloons, giant paper airplanes and hot air balloons.
Since Erick and I were in charge of decorations again this year, I wanted to send thank you notes to all the fabulous volunteers who helped us assemble everything we’d prepared. The clouds all had to move from our garage to the church, and it all happened quickly with so many willing helpers. Of course the Up, Up & Away stamp set (see it online) was PERFECT!
I made about 15 of these cards to send out, so I wanted to share a quick tip. If you have a large project, like wedding invitations or baby shower invites, be sure to do them assembly line style to make the most of your time.
Here are some Assembly Line Stamping tips:
- lay out all your pieces at once for a single layer — stamp all the Calypso Coral parts, then all the Pool Party, then the next color and so on. Finish them all before going on to the next step.
cut all your ribbon pieces at once (when you’re sure of the size)- use the Simply Scored tool (see it online) to score all your cards in a flash
Want to see our decorations from VBS this year? We didn’t use any of the recycled Stampin’ Up! packing paper, like in past years, but I have no doubt that we’ll be able to use it for next year’s theme. In the meantime, we used lots of recycled cardboard from refrigerator boxes!
If you need the Up, Up & Away stamp set for your own VBS, be sure to check out my online store, or drop me an email. It’s possible to use a tax exempt number with your order if you contact me directly!
Happy Stamping!

Packed for Baby Shower Invitations
A friend of mine recently asked for help in designing baby shower invitations for two of her friends. We came up with a couple of designs, and she took them to the new-moms-to-be so they could pick their favorite.
Here’s one of the designs featuring the Packed for Baby stamp (see it online).
The card base was cut with the Scallop Square Die (see it online). Just fold the card stock in half, place on the die so the fold won’t be cut, then run it through the Big Shot. Voila–shaped card!
Other Supplies:
- Whisper White, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Island Indigo & Concord Crush card stock
- Fashionable Hearts Embosslit (see it online)
- Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Die Set (see it online)
- Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon
Happy Stamping!

Everyday Enchantment: Sweet Memories
Do you have favorite photos that are just screaming to be featured on a scrapbook page? While I applaud scrappers who can ‘keep up’ with their family photos, that’s just not going to be me. Instead, my scrapbook strategy is to enjoy the time I have to scrapbook by picking and choosing my favorite photos. I don’t worry about whether I’ve finished a baby book before I go on to a picture from last month.
For me, I find it’s a much more enjoyable (aka less stressful) way to catalog our family memories. Here’s a page that I put together last month for Vickie’s Workshop, using the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and the Fresh Vintage stamp set (both from the Sale-A-Bration Mini Catalog – download it now – and can be selected for free with a $50 order until March 31).
Look familiar? It should! The layout is the same as the My Digital Studio page I shared yesterday — the one I patterned after a layout in the Stampin’ Up! catalog.
Still trying to decide which Sale-A-Bration stamp sets and selections you want to earn for free before March 31st? Here are some of the projects I’ve shared on my blog:
- Fresh Vintage stamp set
- Triple Treat Flower stamp
- Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper
- Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brads Bundle
- Elementary Elegance stamp set
- Sprinkled Expressions stamp set
- Outlined Occasions stamp set

Mixed Bunch: Clean & Simple (keep it simple!)
Sometimes it’s not 4 layers, 3 stamp sets and a handful of rhinestones that make a card. Sometimes it’s simplicity that makes the difference. Here’s a clean and simple card that uses the Mixed Bunch stamp set (from the Occasions Mini Catalog, also part of my February Stamps in the Mail Club Kit).
The colors remind me of a bandanna… Poppy Parade & Island Indigo. The Blossom Punch (see it online) gives a great focal point. The bottom of the card is scored several times with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool (see it online) to create a nice edged look for the card.
If you’re still craving ribbon & Glimmer Brads, then here’s another version of the same card with a bit more BLING.
I matted the card in Poppy Parade card stock to bring out the stamped colors. And the ribbon at the bottom is Island Indigo, to match the stamped circles.

You’re My Type: cakes, pies, chocolate-covered strawberries…
What’s not to love about the Sweet Shop product suite in the Occasions Mini Catalog? (see it online) Here I’ve used the Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper (see it online) along with the Mixed Bunch stamp set (part of my Stamps in the Mail Club for February). This is actually one of the projects my Stamps in the Mail Clubbers will be making in March! Did you know that LovenStampfuls demonstrators can participate in my Stamps in the Mail Club at a discounted rate?
The colors in the Sweet Shop paper are some of my favorites for this time of year — pretty much direct from the 2011-2013 In Colors (see them online). Something about bright happy colors sure helps when the winter grays outside start to take over!
