Say Yes To The Dress: All Dressed Up

You know you’ve been thinking about this set of Dress Up Framelits Dies (see them online – 130101) and the coordinating All Dressed Up stamp set (see it online – 129174).

This card is a step up from the All Dressed Up card I shared last week — the fold of the card stock adds an extra pop to an already “wow” card!

Here are the easy directions for the Fancy Fold Flap card:

  1. Cut a ¼ sheet of card stock for the base (Primrose Petals) and layer as desired. Used here: More Amore Designer Series Paper (see the paper online – 129309)
  2. Cut a long piece for the center flap (Pool Party) at 3” x 11”.
  3. Decorate layers then fold long piece in half and attach around the back of the ¼ sheet layer.

Don’t forget, you can get the stamp set and the framelits together at a 15% discount!  (check that online – 131095 for clear mount)

And while you’re thinking FAIRY TALES… don’t forget to sign up for the Paper Pumpkin subscription! You’ll want to sign up now to get your monthly kit in the mail — a sort of Cinderella’s pumpkin, turned into something beautiful by her Fairy Godmother.

I’d love to be your Fairy Godmother of Stamping!  Be sure to visit www.MyPaperPumpkin.com and click “get it” at the bottom left corner. Select me (Meg Loven, IL) as your demonstrator.

Then drop me an email to let me know that you’ve signed up, and I’ll have a special gift for you to go with your kit!

Happy Stamping!

All Dressed Up – a fashionably belated birthday

I think the inside of this card is the best.  One of the greetings included with the All Dressed Up stamp set (see it online – 129174) reads, “happy birthday! fashionably late…but worth the wait.”  Gotta love a fun belated birthday card, right?  It’s the birthday that keeps on giving!

Love the dress form and the die-cut dress shape?  This sweet card also uses the Dress Up Framelits Dies (see them online – 130101) to cut the dress from the More Amore Designer Series Paper (see the paper online – 129309), which is definitely NOT just for Valentine’s Day!

Better bonus?  You can get the stamp set and the framelits together at a 15% discount!  (check that online – 131095)

And if you’ve got a wedding coming up this spring or summer, can’t you just see how perfect this set is for bridal shower treats? Favors?  Thank you notes?

Beautiful Season: Chickadee Tunnel Card

Do you have a stamp set that’s been on your Wish List for more than a catalog or two, and you just haven’t gotten down to it yet? The Beautiful Season stamp set is that one for me (see the full set online).  Or at least it WAS that set, because now I have it on my shelf!

This is a gorgeous set for watercoloring (stay tuned for a Stamps in the Mail Club announcement on watercolor!) but it’s also a perfect detail set for a monochromatic card — it doesn’t need any coloring at all.

The bold Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler colors are paired with the coordinating Snow Festival Designer Series Paper (see the patterns).

And I am in love with my new Window Frames Collection Framelits (see them online).  They’re my new favorite frame shape, especially with the coordinating Festive Paper Piercing Pack (see the shapes online), and especially because the Frame Pack can be yours for free during the October Stampin’ Up! special! (see more about the free Festive pack).

This card has a fun surprise inside — it’s a Tunnel Card!

These are surprisingly simple to create.  I’ve included some brief directions for this particular card, which folds to a finished 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ size.

To make the Tunnel Card:

  1. Score a piece of 4 ¼” x 8 1/2” card stock at 4 1/4”
  2. Cut the inner layer (Whisper White) to 4” x 8 1/4”.  Score at 2 1/8″, 4 1/8″ and 6 1/8″
  3. Cut the center hole around the center score line with a Framelit from the Window Frame Collection set.
  4. Pierce around the framelit hole with the coordinating Festive Piercing Template.  Then assemble layers.
  5. Remember to keep glue on only the two outside panels of the Whisper White layer (I like the Multipurpose Liquid Glue for this best)
  6. Add center stamped greeting layer

Here’s a tip for you — let your card dry before you play with it too much.  It’s tempting to want to play, but your layers will adhere better in the long run if you give them a chance to dry.

This is also one of the cards that I designed to make tonight at our demonstrator event.  Are you a LovenStampfuls demonstrator yet?  Let me know if you’d like to learn more!

Happy Stamping!

Here’s a fun project that I shared this past Friday night at our Demonstrator Meeting in Champaign, Illinois.

I love this 2 step builder stamp set with the Watercolor Wonder Crayons (see them online).  Have you used these before?  Be sure to check out my “Three in One” Video Tutorial (see it now) on how to use the crayons.

The greeting on this set is from the new Sassy Salutations stamp set (see it online).  The font is a fun style that matches a wide variety of stamp images.

The little Scallop Square Treat is a fun project — watch for a Video Tutorial on my blog later this week.  I’ll show you how to make at home!

Looking for more Watercolor Wonder Crayon techniques and ideas?  Here are some other projects on my blog!

Either way, don’t miss this sweet stamp set, available only during July! (order now)

Monochromatic Cards: Fresh Vintage in Black & White

When was the last time you did a card without color?  Sometimes a monochromatic card (“one color”) or a black & white card is a refreshing change of pace.  Here’s a card featuring the Fresh Vintage stamp set (available as a Sale-A-Bration reward with a $50 order right now).

The card was started on a Note Card & Envelope base (see them online) (yes, I’m addicted to them — here are a whole bunch of ideas on my blog).  I cut 1″ off the front of the notecard, then used the Scallop Edge Border Punch (see it online) at the edge of a piece of Basic Black card stock and stamped the Fresh Vintage flourish on the inside of the note card.

Perfect embellishments for this card — Jewels Pearls in three sizes, and the Scallop Polka Dot Ribbon in Basic Black.  Yup, it comes in other colors too, but this was perfect for the B&W look.  If you’re trying to match the Scallop Circle size, it’s the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch.   Just add with Dimensionals, and you’re set!

Be sure to check out my other Sale-A-Bration set ideas, or some of my other monochromatic card ideas.

Nature Walk: Inspirational Gift Ideas

Still looking for a few gift ideas this season?  Here’s one that can inspire your stamping creativity plus inspire your recipient.  Recently, my friend Karyn brought me a poem that her god-son, Timothy Jochim, had written her years ago.  The original frame had seen better days and the paper was fading, but the prayer inside holds special meaning for her and she wanted to know if I could turn it into something that she can display.

Break out the stamps, embellishments and a new frame, and here we go!  I used the Nature Walk stamp set (see it online) and an assortment of Crochet Trim, Pearls and Seam Binding Ribbon.  The colors are Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, River Rock and Soft Suede.

To make a soft border around the edges of the text, I used my brayer and layered ink slowly–just a little bit at a time, until I was happy with the effect.  The soft texture matches with the organic feel of the pencil-drawn stamp set.

To add extra impact to the message, I printed the prayer a 2nd time, and cut out a few words.  I used Sponge Daubers to gently ink the edges of the words and raised them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To balance the dimension, I cut out and added one of the Nature Walk birds with Dimensionals.

The prayer is beautiful — here is the text, if you are interested:

Daily Prayer…

by Timothy Jochim

My dear Lord God
To you I pray,
That you will help me
Through this day.
I will not worry
Of the past,
For the future
Is coming fast.
I’ll put my humble
Faith in you,
And know your love,
Will see me through.
The hard times I
Endure today,
Will only help me
On my way,
For as my pain lasts
All the longer,
It’s only there,
To make me stronger.
I promise I
Won’t leave your side,
And by your laws
I will abide.
I love you till
The very end,
For you are my
Eternal friend,
In Jesus name I pray… Amen.

I hope you have fun this weekend, working on projects and getting ready for the holidays!  If you’re looking for more ‘home decor’ type projects, you can browse a few on my blog.

Merry & Type: Simple Christmas Cards

HOW many days til Christmas?  Eek!  Only 19?  Okay, I’m breathing… I’m breathing…  It will all come together, right?  Ha.  Just kidding, I’m actually feeling pretty good about holiday preparations this year.  But if you are looking for a quick Christmas card to make, here’s one with the Merry & Type stamp set (see it online) that is a breeze.

What’s fun about this card?  I love the ‘retro’ feel of it, plus the greetings included in the stamp set are wonderful.  There is actually a Collection called “Letters to Santa” that includes this stamp set and some other fun supplies (see it online). The Decorative Label Punch is a great match, and the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is a style that goes with a variety of themes.

Colors here?  Lucky Limeade, Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip, with Naturals Ivory as the neutral card stock for stamping (see it online).

Are you making more than one of the same card?  Here’s a tip for you:  Once you have your prototype ready, make the pieces in assembly-line style, rather than one at a time.  So for this card, you’d stamp all the greetings for 10 cards, then punch all 10 of the pieces.  You’d stamp 10 ornaments, put mats on 10 ornaments, assemble all 10… etc.  You get the idea.  This way you’ll accomplish more in the time you have…which means more time to go back to the drawing board and do more creating!

Happy Stamping!

Christmas Card: JOY in the Snow

Okay, maybe you don’t take joy in seeing the snow fly, but you might like this quick Christmas card anyway!  Using the Serif Essentials Alphabet Die set for the Big Shot, the letters J and Y are a perfect fit for a snowy “JOY”.

The background?  It’s the Northern Flurries Embossing Folder.  And again, my fav holiday card colors for this year — Pool Party and Island Indigo!  (did you see my gift idea from earlier this week with the same colors?)

This is a quick card because the card itself is one of the Note Cards & Envelopes from the set in the catalog (see them online).  They come pre-scored and ready to decorate!  (check out some of my other Note Card ideas)

We’ll be making this card this evening at my Custom Christmas Card Class.  Want to get together with your friends and make 16 cards to take home?  Be sure to drop me an email and we can fit you in before the holidays — or after the holidays for an All-Occasions Card Class!

Happy Stamping!

Sweet & Simple: Brighten a Friday

I’ve told you before how my friend Margo always puts a sweet enclosure in any envelopes she sends to me.  So when I send a quick note or a check for a PTO/school activity, I try to follow Margo’s lead and tuck a quick stamped tidbit into my envelope.

Here’s a little note (finished size 1-1/2″ x 3″) that I CASE’d from my fellow demonstrator Shelley Rairden.  She used a retired stamp set, so I adapted it for the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set (see it online) and copied her use of the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (see it online).

So sweet, and so simple!  Three little tiny pearls from the Jewels Pearls add the perfect touch, and the Scallop Edge Border Punch dresses up the bottom edge.

Colors? Poppy Parade, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, and Lucky Limeade.

Next time you sit down to stamp, make a handful of quick and cute little enclosures to share a stamping smile and brighten a few days!

Happy Stamping!
