Perfect Holiday Treats: Cute, Clever & Quick with the Petal Card Punch
Looking for a fun treat to make for holiday gifts? You know, the ones you always think about making to hand out to neighbors you see at the Post Office, or the clerk at the grocery store who always says something nice to you?
Oh wait – you haven’t gotten around to making those? Really? Well let me help you!! This is a really quick, really easy project that doesn’t use many supplies and is sure to put a smile on the face and in the heart of anyone who receives it from you!
Plus you can make about 20 of them in under an hour. That’s 20 smiles to share – won’t it feel great to share that happiness?
(click the photo for a larger view)
See how they fit together? The Petal Card Double Punch (see it online) is a perfect size for making little treat holders for the “minis” size of chocolates (Mmmmm….).
Here’s what you’ll do (picture yourself sharing these with friends!):
- Punch two petal card pieces for each candy. Place the candy inside one, put dabs of glue on three tabs of the other punched piece. Fold up and hold to adhere.
- Punch out ovals with the Small Oval Punch (see it online) from the Champagne Glimmer Paper (see it online)
- Stamp little trees (or another design) with the Merry Minis stamp set (see it online) and punch them with the matching Merry Minis Punch Pack (see them online).
- Layer all the pieces and put three treats into a perfectly sized 4 x 6″ Cellophane Bag (see them online).
- Tie with a piece of the sweet 1/4″ Sweater Trim (see it online).
- Add a cute little tag — if you don’t know who you’re going to give this to, then write something like “For You” instead of a specific name. Add a glimmer star with the Merry Minis Punch Pack (from above) and you’re all done!
So what do you think? I know you can do it!! If you make little treats to share this season, let me know – I’d love to hear about the smiles you’re spreading! And if you see me at the post office or at the IGA, maybe I’ll still have some left to share with you in person.
Looking for color ideas? Here’s what I used (click to shop for each):
Gumball Green: Stampin’ Write Marker (126856), Card Stock (126840), Classic Pad (126861)
Cherry Cobbler: Card Stock (119685), Sweater Trim (129938)
Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650)

Last Chance for $5 Stamps: Reason to Smile
Whew! Summer is flying by, and with the end of July comes the end of the $5 Reason To Smile stamp set. Have you seen the samples of this fun set on my blog? (check them out)
Here’s another project idea — a quick and simple one. A great feature of 2-step stamp sets is that they make for quick projects. These sets are an outline stamp and a background stamp image all in one set. The coloring is done for you with the 2nd stamp!
And I don’t know about you, but I definitely think CHOCOLATE is a “reason to smile”
The quick tag on this project was finished by adding the Happy Birthday greeting from Bring On The Cake (see it online).
Looking for other projects with candy?? I LOVE using candy with my stamping treats! Here are a ton of ideas on my blog.

Video Tutorial: Scallop Square Lollipop Treats
I love my Scallop Square Die (see it online - 115950). It’s one of my most-used Big Shot dies (see what I mean?). Last week I posted a project using the Reason to Smile stamp set, and I wanted to share a Video Tutorial on how to make the sweet lollipop treat.
The treat uses several fabulous products, and if you like to print your directions to save at home, here’s a photo of the ‘guts’ of this little sweet treat:
- Big Shot Die Cut Machine (see it online – 113439)
- Simply Scored Tool (see it online – 122334)
- Simply Scored Diagonal Plate (see it online – 125586)
- Scallop Square Die (see it online - 115950)
- Make A Cake stamp set (see it online – c 126742 or w 126740)
Just grab your favorite color card stock and coordinating Designer Series Paper, and you’re all set! Love the paper in the background on my photos? It’s from the Patio Party Designer Series Paper (see it online – 126916) and I love it, too!
Here’s the Video Tutorial:

It’s a Mary Poppins Purse!
You remember that scene from Mary Poppins, where she opens her carpetbag and starts pulling belongings out? And keeps pulling…and keeps pulling…? Well the little Petite Purse Bigz Die (see it online) is going to be known as the Mary Poppins Purse Die on my blog.
I thought this little purse was going to be too tiny to fit much of anything… okay, maybe 3 Hershey’s Kisses. But guess what? It fits TEN (yes, 10!)! And it’s a small die!
Maybe I’m getting a bit over excited here, but you might have noticed on my blog that I’m a big fan of cute little projects that include candy. Because I think stamping is fun, but stamping with chocolate is BETTER. So a little die that makes a perfect candy-sized purse is going to rate high in my book. (see some other candy projects on my blog)
I’m hearing that you’re going to need this one, too, so don’t forget that you’ll have to order it in April, because if you miss it in April, you’ll have to wait <<sniff, sniff>> until the new catalog comes out on June 1st.
Oh, same goes for the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (see it online). And don’t miss the Summer Smooches Fabric Designer Brads (see them online), because the brads WON’T be in the new catalog — they’re only available this month. I ordered 2 boxes.
(here are some other Summer Smooches projects on my blog!)

Friday Night Fun: Posy Punch Scallop Squares
We had a great time on Friday evening at my New Catalog Idea Blitz–complete with cupcakes and brownies. Really, isn’t any event with cupcakes a good one? I wanted to share my party favors with you, using the new Posy Punch hostess stamp set (see it online).
Have you checked out the new Hostess Plan yet? I have to say that I’m a big fan of being able to spend more hostess $ on whatever I want. Posy Punch stamp set is just one of my favs, since it matches the Fancy Flower Punch (see it online).
The colors here are the new Island Indigo, Calypso Coral and Pool Party, and the Ruffled Ribbon on the bamboo skewer is also new. It comes in all 5 new In Colors.
The Scallop Squares Duo Die for Big Shot (see it online) is the base for the top of my favor, and the bottom of the skewer is poked into a Hershey’s Nugget, perfect as a base to hold up the flower. I used Tombow Multiadhesive (the ‘green lid glue’) to hold the pieces onto the skewer at the top. At the bottom it’s just the chocolate… ready to eat!
These would be great for any party event– baby shower, wedding shower, birthday… just adapt the colors and stamp to fit your occasion!

Build A Cupcake: Punch Art Gift Tags
A few weeks ago I shared this fun little Take-Out Box gift with the Create A Cupcake stamp set tag. The box itself is built from the Petal Cone Die for Big Shot (check out some other Petal Cone Die ideas).
The Create A Cupcake stamp set (see it online) and the matching Build A Cupcake Punch (see it online) are two of my fav items from the Mini Catalog. This tag and take-out box (via the Petal Cone Die–see it online) are projects from my recent Stampin’ Up! Workshops.
Here I wanted to share 2 Video Tutorials for this fun project.
Tutorial 1: Create A Cupcake Gift Tag — learn how to make the most of your ink pads with the Stampin’ Off technique, plus tips for Punch Art with the Build A Cupcake Punch.
Tutorial 2: Petal Cone Die Take-Out Box — another fabulous idea for this flexible die for Big Shot. Learn how to score and fold to create a sweet treat container.

Crazy for Cupcakes: especially to build your own
Can you picture this? I walked out to my mailbox one day, opened the door and pulled out a pile of junk mail… plus… my Occasions Mini Catalog! I ran back to the house (because of my excitement, not necessarily because I was out at the curb with no shoes on in 10 degree weather) and my first flip-through of the catalog stopped right at page 22…
No way, matching CUPCAKE stamps and punch?! Too sweet! (pun intended)
Okay, you’ve got me. Yes, this experience may have been recreated for my blog (since we got to play with this cute stamp set back at the Founder’s Circle Retreat last fall) but really, can’t you imagine the excitement?
The Create A Cupcake stamp set (see it online) and the matching Build A Cupcake Punch (see it online) are two of my fav items from the Mini Catalog. This tag and take-out box (via the Petal Cone Die–see it online) are projects from my recent Stampin’ Up! Workshops.
I’ve made these little boxes as Hostess Gifts. You could have one if you’d like to host a party, too! No cupcakes included though, except the cute one on the tag.
Keep an eye out tomorrow for my newest Video Tutorial! Or check out some of my other recent Petal Cone Die projects (including yesterday’s Easter Carrot).

1st Grade Birthday Treat: Stamps, Ink and an MDS Lunchbox
This year we didn’t have a big birthday party for my daughter. Instead, she went up to her grandparents for a Winter Wonderland Weekend, complete with sled rides behind the tractor. So instead of the big party with treats, Abby took little favors in to school on her birthday snack day.
Here’s what she brought for each of the kids:
Each mini lunchbox was personalized for each child. The labels were created as a My Digital Studio design project. Then I printed them on card stock and trimmed each one, plus rounded their corners with the Corner Rounder Punch.
Very simple and pretty quick! I’m finding that My Digital Studio is a versatile tool that I can use for lots of projects.
Here are few of my past favorites:
- Charms from Shrinky Dink plastic
- 10 minute scrapbook pages
- Custom CD or DVD sleeves
- Recipe Cards
- Custom Notepaper
Also, don’t miss my MDS Instruction Booklet offer from earlier this week!

Are you looking for easy wedding favor ideas? Simple but cute baby shower favors? Birthday party favors?
These are all projects that are perfect for creating with your Stampin’ Up! supplies! But when you need to make 10 or 200 of something, you don’t necessarily want to pick the most complicated, 50 step, specialty supply project.
That’s where this cute project comes in! These little kisses packets are perfect for all occasions, and they take very little time to prepare, and only a few basic supplies.
If you need help planning a finished project, let me know–I’m happy to help you with ideas and a shopping list.
