Who’s Hooting Now? Two Step Owl Punch

Whether you like the whole bird motif or not, I think you’ll find it hard to resist this fabulous new Stampin’ Up! punch!!  Check out the new Two Step Owl Punch — it’s basically 6 punches for the price of one, which is not only a great deal, but also easy to store and super-convenient to use.

I think this is going to take a Video Tutorial to truly show the cool-factor, but for now you’ll have to settle for some pictures and tips.  (check my past Video Tutorials)

First of all, you need to see the actual punch to get an idea of how this works.

See how the little pieces of the Owl all fit together?  To use the punch you can either punch all the pieces in every color paper/card stock, or you can punch just the pieces you need.

For example, on the little Poppy Parade heart (see the sticky Jewels Basic Rhinestone?!), I stuck a little corner of Poppy Parade card stock into my punch and punched just the little heart piece.

Another favorite part of this On Board Briefcase mini album project is the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Extra Large punched from Peach Parfait card stock.

Were you wondering how I got that cool stamped design on the scallop punch piece?  Here’s my trick:

**TIP** To use the Homemade stamp as a border stamp, try Rocking & Rolling the stamp on your ink pad, rather than normal inking.  Check to be sure you ink the entire scallop and dot ring, plus a small amount of the center image, but don’t ink as far as the “homemade & to die for” sentiment.

This album is one of my July Stamp Club with Meg projects–we still have one session left in July–it’s Wednesday, July 12th.  Let me know if you’re in central Illinois and you’d like to join us!  You can see some other fun chipboard projects here, including another On Board Briefcase album here.

Good for Photos of More Than Just Birds

I’ve posted a few of these photo books lately, and I wanted to share one more.  This sample uses a Last Chance Big Shot Die: Bird w/Leaves and Flower (113465).   There aren’t too many Big Shot dies retiring, but this is one that I’ve enjoyed using.

And yes, you could put photos of ANYTHING in this book… it’s not exclusive to bird photos.  Although I do have some friends who have enough feathered friends photos to fill it. (try saying that 5 times fast) :-)

You can find directions for these photo books on one of my previous blog posts.  They’re a quick way to put together a few of the Stampin’ Up! Clear Translucent Medium Envelopes (102619) and have a nifty way to share a few photos.

I used the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set for accents along with the Rough Type Alphabet and the 3/4″ Circle Punch to add the book title.  The Scallop Circle Die Cut (courtesy of my Big Shot Die Cut Machine) is textured using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder from the Summer Mini Catalog.

Finally, the Corduroy Brads in Kraft were used to hold the whole book together.  They’re also on the Last Chance list, and they’re 25% off–pretty nice  :-)

It’s also one of the projects that my Stamps in the Mail Club members will make with their June kits–did you see the Latte card they’re also making? (yes, you can still sign up for Round 16 of Stamps in the Mail right now–you haven’t missed out yet!)

Thanks A Latte: Itty Bitty Bits for BIG Appreciation

Not only is this card one that we’ll make tonight at my Hostess Appreciation Party, but it’s also one of the cards that my Stamps in the Mail Club members will make with their June kits! (yes, you can still sign up for Round 16 of Stamps in the Mail right now–you haven’t missed out yet!)

I absolutely love the way More Mustard and Chocolate Chip complement the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz Spray.  And the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set sure seems to come in handy over and over again.

The Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Paper is a must-have item from the Summer Mini Catalog, whether you have Smooch Spritzes or not. There are so many great ways to use your inks to reveal the gorgeous patterns.

This was a simple card to create:

  1. Start with a Chocolate Chip card folded in half — 4 1/4 x 8 1/2″
  2. Spray the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz 3-4 times on the Presto Designer Paper (3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″), revealing the resist grid pattern image.  Waiting a moment for the Spritz to begin drying, use a tissue to wipe away excess Spritz from the design.
  3. Layer Presto and Whisper White layers and add Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon.
  4. Stamp and punch 3 Itty Bitty Bits in Chocolate Chip and More Mustard ink.  Layer on the punched Large Oval and layer on the Scallop Oval as shown.  Attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The thing that really ‘makes’ this card though, is the Rough Type Alphabet stamped greeting on the inside. :-)

Diva Night Make N Take: Itty Bitty

Last night was our LovenStampfuls Diva Night for the Summer Mini Catalog. Since the Summer Mini Catalog is full of glitz and glimmer with the Smooch Spritzes, we thought it would be fun to do a theme night!

Here’s the Make N Take project I designed — we had to balance the girly diva ‘bling’ factor, so we made a card that would be great for either a gal or a guy (even with the small amount of glimmer included!).

The card uses Brilliant Blue for the background (retiring soon! don’t wait to order your cardstock or reinkers!!) and the new Travel Journal Designer Series Paper.

The stamps are from the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set (featured in my Stamps in the Mail Club — yes, you can still sign up!), along with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and the matching Bitty Buttons. Have I mentioned lately that I love things that coordinate?

Everyone just tied off a bit of linen thread to dress up the button, and voila!

Oh, were you looking for the little bit of glitz? We used the Vanilla Smooch Spritz on the Pumpkin Pie cardstock layer before adding the punched pieces. It’s subtle, but enough to add that special ‘something’ to the card.

Looking for more Itty Bitty Bits and Punches ideas? Be sure to check my Stamps in the Mail Club projects for May!

Just for Guys, Itty Bitty Bits Card Idea

Hmm… not sure that blog post title really came across quite right, but I’ll carry on anyway… LOL

This is a project that I created for the card kits that I’m sending as thank-yous for my April online orders (thanks everyone!). It uses the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, which I’m totally in love with, along with the new Travel Journal Designer Series Paper, both from the Summer Mini Catalog.

Here are the directions, in case you’d like to make your own card at home:

1. Cut cardstock to sizes:
  • Whisper White 5 ¼ x 7 ½” (fold in half to make card)
  • Night of Navy: 4 x 5 ½ ” (mount behind white layer)
  • Travel Journal Designer Series Paper :1 ½ x 3 ½” and 3 ½” square
  • Whisper White: 2 x 2 ¼”
  • Night of Navy: 1 ¾ x 2”
  • Scraps: Whisper White

2. Fold the Whisper White piece in half to create the card and mount on Night of Navy background. This is a great technique for creating a white card inside for writing, but still having the effect of a dark background layer.

3. Layer the Travel Journal Designer Series Paper as shown and stamp greeting of your choice at the bottom right. Featured stamp set: On Your Birthday (set of 12, $33.95, 111664)

4. Stamp and punch out 9 Itty Bitty Bits images of your choice in Sahara Sand and Night of Navy.

5. Arrange as grid and attach. Layer Navy and White cardstock and attach to card.

You can also get more Itty Bitty Bits ideas as part of my Stamps in the Mail Club! You can still sign up for the new Round that runs for May, June and July. Ooh… did I mention that as a Stamps In the Mail Club member you’ll get a FREE copy of the new big catalog when it comes out on July 1st? Just one more enticement to sign up now ;-)

And here is a copy of the card using the Sentimental Journey stamp set (Summer Mini Catalog) instead of Itty Bitty Bits. The Designer Series Paper in the Travel Journal paper pack is really flexible–you can use pretty much any stamp set to complement it.

Itty Bitty Tic Tac Toe, Bits in a Box

I’m SO excited about this project for my new Stamps in the Mail Club Round!! Each month Club members make 3 cards plus a ‘wow’ fun project of some kind. The new Round begins this month (May) so you can jump in and join the club this month.

For our May ‘wow’ fun project, we’re going to be making these sweet Tic Tac Toe “To Go” games! A huge thank you to my friend Kelley Banducci for a similar project that she shared with me several years ago!

I’m not sure the picture shows it very well, but the playing pieces use both the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set (from the Summer Mini Catalog) as well as the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and the Bitty Buttons that match perfectly.

Two fabulous things about the Stamps in the Mail Club… 1) you get all the stamps, inks, accessories and embellishments that you need for the projects, and 2) you get exclusive Video Tutorials with all my tips for making the projects a snap–4 new videos and 4 new projects each month.

Here are the 4 projects you’ll be making with your May Kit:

Here’s what past Stamps in the Mail Club members have said about the Club:

Here’s what Debbie K, an 11-round Stamps in the Mail Club subscriber had to say: “I really enjoy the Stamps in the Mail Club because everything you need for a project or card is right there–everything is pre-cut. The directions are clear and easy, and then you have the directions that you can use on future projects. I love it.”

And Dawn H, another Stamps in the Mail Club veteran shared this thought: “Stamps in the mail club is an awesome way to get creative ideas. A fabulous way to build up your supplies at little cost. Stamps in the mail is like taking a class, only you don’t have to leave the comforts of your home. Everything is delivered to your door. I highly recommend Stamps in the mail! Besides the demonstrator is awesome!”

Midnight Stamping on a Cruise Ship

Last week I was fortunate to be on vacation with my husband–on an 8 day cruise, compliments of Stampin’ Up!! Each year demonstrators have a chance to earn an incentive trip, and this year the trip was on the Adventure of the Seas in the Southern Caribbean.

We left from San Juan (our first time to Puerto Rico) last Sunday and Monday was our first day at sea. I’ll be sharing more each day THIS week–I’m excited to get some of my pictures onto scrapbook pages.

I thought I’d start out with some stamping though. On Friday night we had our cruise Make N Take session from midnight to 2 am. So I guess it was really Saturday morning, right? If I appear awake, it’s only because I drank a LOT of coffee that evening!

I sat with several demonstrator friends as well as Scott Nielsen (CFO of Stampin’ Up! and former Yankees pitcher) and his wife Pam. Scott and Pam actually got to teach us demonstrators how to do our Make N Take projects. They thought that was pretty funny, since neither of them do all that much stamping ;-)

Here’s one of my Make N Take projects (the one on the right side), using the new Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack from the Summer Mini Catalog, as well as a really cute stamp set that will be available in the new BIG catalog that debuts on July 1st.

I adapted the Cruise Make N Take to create the card on the left. The left side card uses the new Itty Bitty Bits stamp set and Bitty Buttons (available NOW in the Summer Mini Catalog), and is one of the cards we’ll make as part of my new Stamps in the Mail Club Round. You can still sign up–be sure to check the details on my website!

SO Excited for Itty Bitty Bits!

Okay, so you probably won’t fall off your chair in surprise, but in the new Mini Catalog (starting May 1st) there are new stamps (just wait for it) that coordinate perfectly with (here it comes) new PUNCHES!

Well? Are you still on your chair? Okay, I figured you’d be alright. But really, I have had so much fun playing with my new toys, and I’m sure you’re going to love them, too.

Actually, I love this combo so much that I’m featuring it for my next Stamps in the Mail Club Round, beginning in May. Yup, it’s the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, plus the matching Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Here’s one of the cards you’ll get to make in May–don’t you love how the little tiny (okay, itty bitty) punched pieces fit together to make the large flowers?

In the May Stamps in the Mail Club Kit, you’ll get both the stamp set and the set of 3 punches to match, as well as a Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker. So you’ll have EVERYTHING for the 4 ready-to-stamp projects that you’ll make with your May kit.

That’s the beauty of my Stamps in the Mail Club: your pre-cut projects arrive ready to stamp, along with printed step-by-step directions with photos, embellishments and the stamps, inks and accessories you’ll need. You can even go online and watch the exclusive Stamps in the Mail Club Video Tutorials where I show you step-by-step how to complete each project.
