Good News: it’s like extra time for your homework!

Have you been furiously working on your MDS2 projects so that you can print them and take advantage of the 31% off on professionally printed photobooks and pages?  And are you going crazy trying to make the August 31st deadline?

GREAT news for you!! (and for me, as I’m still working on my projects, too)  Stampin’ Up! has EXTENDED the 31% Off Digital sale until September 14!

They know you and I are wrapping up summer stuff, getting everybody back to school, and things are busy. Now everybody can have a little more breathing room to finish their projects to send off to the print services. And don’t forget about the 31 digital content items on sale too. (learn more about that on my blog)

Still trying to figure out My Digital Studio and MDS2?  I have a handy chart on my blog that talks about your options and helps you find the perfect choice for YOU.

In the meantime, I’m back to work on my latest projects — including an album of pictures from my Brownie Troop’s camp-out last spring.

It’s a simple book, but the pictures tell the story!  I put it together using the Summer Smooches Digital Photobook Template (available as a digital download).

Simple to create — I actually made 90% of it on an airplane to Salt Lake City for the Stampin’ Up! Convention this summer!

Just printed 2 copies to show to my troop moms — one in hard cover and one in soft cover.  And each of them can decide if they’d like a copy to have for their own daughter.

Because who doesn’t want to remember a weekend camping in tents in the rain? :)   Seriously though, we had a great time and ALL the girls can’t wait to go back!

Happy Stamping!

Girl Scout Awards Night: Apothecary Art

Last month I was supposed to attend a Girl Scout awards night for leaders. I volunteered to bring along flowers for the awards recipients, complete with stamped tags celebrating everyone’s achievements.  I made about 15 bouquets to hand out at the event.

I didn’t end up going to the event myself, since I took my hubby to the ER for stitches in his fingers that night, but the flowers made it! (and he’s fine now)

I have to say that I’m completely addicted to the Apothecary Art stamp set (see it online), and the coordinating Labels Collection Framelits (see them online).  In fact, here are more sample ideas on my blog, including a Video Tutorial.  I was so happy when they all came out in the New Catalog on June 1st!

Each little bouquet of a rose, baby’s breath and some greenery was tied with a piece of coordinating ribbon (since Stampin’ Up! has great ribbon colors to match the Card Stocks and Inks — see online).

Here’s a shot of one of the bouquets (yes, sorry it’s laid out on my kitchen floor!):

So next time you have an event — think about how your stamping supplies can come in handy for making it special!

Happy Stamping!

Pinewood Derby: Stampin’ Style

Do you have a Pinewood Derby car to prep at your house?  This year we had a Powderpuff Derby car to build (same as pinewood, but for the Girl Scouts).  The project was a Daddy & Me project, and this year my daughter learned how to paint with masks… and Stampin’ Up! punches.

This creativity is all from my husband Erick, and I was pretty impressed!  Here’s what they did:

  1. Tape wide painter’s tape to a piece of butcher paper
  2. Use a punch to punch a shape from the paper
  3. Gently remove the punched tape from the paper
  4. Apply tape to car & paint
  5. Remove tape for perfect shaped effect!

Gotta love it when the tools are handy for exactly what you want.  So whether you’re building a car now or you’re painting something else entirely, remember to try your Stampin’ Up! punches… or even your Big Shot Dies!

Happy Stamping!

Happy 100th to the Girl Scouts

Happy 100th Birthday to the Girl Scouts of the USA!  The Girl Scouts began in 1912 and they’re celebrating 100 years in 2012.  Pretty exciting!  Here’s a fun digital scrapbook page with My Digital Studio that I put together for an event my daughter and I attended this year.  The layout is actually from the Twitterpated Kit Digital Download (see it online).

Thinking Day is a celebration of Girl Scouting around the world, and I remember attending Thinking Day events when I was a kid in Girl Scouts, and my mom was my troop leader.  I’m happy to be able to share Girl Scouting with my daughter now, as her Brownie Troop leader.

This isn’t my first time to scrapbook our Girl Scout adventures with My Digital Studio.  Here are a couple of other MDS blog entries:

Do you have MDS yet?  Be sure to learn about the 30-day free trial and watch my MDS with Meg Video Tutorials to learn how to start your first photobook.

Happy Stamping, and Happy Birthday Girl Scouts!

MDS: Easy 2-Page Layouts from Templates

Yesterday I told you that there were <gasp!> extra My Digital Studio digital scrapbooking Page Templates that you might not know about.  Today I’m going to tell you how to turn a single page into an instant 2-page spread in My Digital Studio (learn more about MDS).

  1. First get the page designed that you want
  2. Go to the Insert menu at the top of the screen
  3. Choose “Insert Duplicate Page Mirrored”

The new page will appear in the page tray at the bottom of your screen.  If you want to make a 2-page spread, it should already be right next to the page you just copied.

Since the page is a duplicate but mirrored page, you may need to delete or replace a few stamped images.  For example, any stamped words (created from individual stamped letters) will now be backwards.

You can even check your pages to make sure they’re lined up the way you’d like.  This way you can see what your printed album is going to look like before you upload and send it to the Stampin’ Up! printer.

See how this looks?  This is done by choosing “Check Project” in the Design Center on the right side of your MDS screen.  The viewer will let you page through your virtual album one page at a time.

I loved that this single 12 x 12″ page template from the To The Nines Designer Series Paper Digital Download (see it online) became a perfect 2-page layout for our Daisy Girl Scout camping trip from this past weekend.

Hot dogs, anyone?

MDS: Template Discoveries of the Day

Did you ever pick up a rock as a kid, just to see what might be crawling underneath it? Well that’s the kind of kid my daughter is, and I love it!  Never fear though: my blog post today is much less creepy-crawly than what you might find wiggling its way under a rock.

Abby and I went to a Daisy Girl Scout “Mom & Me” Campout this past weekend.  Next time we’ll vote for better weather (tornadoes and 45 degrees + rain), but we had a great time anyway.  I wanted to grab a few photos to document some highlights of our trip, and I found this perfect layout ready-made for the occasion, from the To The Nines DSP Digital Download (see it online).

Be sure to check the journaling for my ‘mom moments’ (click on the photo for a larger view). All I had to do with this My Digital Studio template was download the To The Nines Designer Series Paper, click the auto-install for the download, then open MDS and pick the 12×12″ page template for a new page.

Did you know that some of the Digital Downloads available for My Digital Studio include templates for cards or scrapbook pages? When you click on the items in my online store (see it online), the descriptions will tell you whether there is a template included with the download.

Haven’t tried Digital Downloads before? <Click here for my instructions>

Finally, if you’re having trouble keeping up with the new My Digital Studio downloads, I have good news for you!!  They come out every Tuesday, and if you’ve registered your MDS software you should receive an email directly from Stampin’ Up! at the end of each month, listing the new Digital Downloads from that month.

Here are the latest Digital Downloads:

And here is the download link for the full My Digital Studio Catalog, Oct 2009 – Jan 2011:

I love the catalog because it lists the templates included with each download… like the 12 x 12″ page template that comes with the To The Nines Designer Series Paper Download!

Happy (digital) Stamping!
