Flower Fancy: Three Windows How-To

Only a couple of weeks left for the stamp sets on the retiring list!  Both the sets on this fun card are retiring on May 31st – Oval All (see it online) and Flower Fancy (see it online).

Here’s a card that includes three windows and three techniques!

First — want to learn how to line up those three holes?  It’s pretty easy, actually!

  1. Punch ‘placer’ circles from scratch paper.
  2. Adhere lightly on card front where holes are desired.
  3. Punch over the ‘placers’ so that holes will be exactly where you want them.

Second — love the doily on the inside of the card? It’s from the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper (see it online) which is on sale for 25% off while supplies last (or until May 31st).  The paper includes 2 sheets of 12 doilies each.  Use them all at once, or clip them apart to make them last longer.

Third — like the technique on the flowers?  That’s pretty easy, too.  Just ink the bold image stamp in Daffodil Delight ink first, then use Stampin’ Sponges to dab Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo onto the stamp before applying to your paper.

Posh Pastels: Video Technique Tutorial 4, Chalk Grid

Wow, hard to believe that we’re at the 4th tutorial already. I just want to quickly clarify about the Stampin’ Pastels, since I’ve received quite a few questions, most commonly, “what are those Stampin’ Pastel thingies?”

Good question! First of all, the Stampin’ Pastel Thingies aren’t actually ‘thingies’, just Stampin’ Pastels. But on to more informative answers, I usually explain that the Stampin’ Pastels are similar to chalks, except they have a little more oil to them than regular chalks. This helps them to stick to cardstock better, plus gives a little bit nicer depth of color than a generic crafty chalk.

So hopefully that might help a bit–if you have more questions, keep them coming!

Have you seen my Posh Pastels projects yet? You won’t want to miss any of my 4 Posh Pastels Video Tutorials!

Here is the second technique: Chalk Grid (my favorite!!)

For this project you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Stamps: Flower Fancy (111578), Sincere Salutations (115068)

  • Paper & Accessories: Meg’s Posh Pastels Class Kit, Sponge Daubers (102892), Stampin’ Pastels (105542), Blender Pens (102845), Stamping Sponges (101610)

Flower Fancy Favor Box: 2 Step Made Easy

One of my VERY favorite stamp sets:  If you don’t already have Flower Fancy, this is the perfect time to add it to your collection.  Pretty nice :-) Have you ever stamped an image on a piece of cardstock, looked at it and just smiled? This is definitely one of those stamp sets.

I used Flower Fancy here on a piece of card stock cut with the Fancy Favor Big Shot Bigz XL die.

*** STAMPING TIPS ***

  • When assembling the Fancy Favor Box, be sure to stamp everything you want before you start assembling.
  • For the 2-Step Stamping flowers: The solid flowers were stamped in Regal Rose and the outlines were done in Rose Red.
  • The leaves are Old Olive for both the solid and the outline, and the small flowers are So Saffron for both. To make sure the solid image is lighter than the borders, be sure to “stamp off” on a piece of scrap paper before stamping on the project.
  • The ribbon and Hodgepodge Hardware are attached before the box is assembled.
  • For an easy box assembly, add Sticky Strip to the side flap on the box, then fold one half of the box over the flap to attach while the box is flat on the table. This way the score lines will match up perfectly.

Back To School Projects for Kids: Notebooks

Looking for a few last summer projects to complete together before your kids head back to school? Here’s one that the girls did last month for Summer Scrap Camp. They used several Big Shot dies, and the background paper on the right side was created using the Flower Fancy stamp set and Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I find that Watercolor Wonder Crayons and AquaPainters are a favorite tool set for kids, beginning around age 5 or 6.

A few tips for stamping with kids:

  • Choose projects open to creativity: while most adults like to see a sample and copy it, most kids like to create something that’s uniquely theirs. Give them instruction on how to use high-quality art tools, and let them go to town.
  • Limit some choices: don’t give them access to every tool or color under the sun. Kids are more successful in their projects if they have a few colors that are designed to match each other. A perfect choice would be to use all Bold Brights color family inks or cardstocks, since you know the colors will mesh well.
  • Add glitter: enough said, right? Be sure to contain the glitter though, or you’ll be wearing it for weeks. I like to use the Stampin’ Up! Powder Pals, since the trays have spouts for pouring excess glitter back into the containers.
  • Pick ‘useful’ projects: kids are proud of their art and like to keep it around. Projects like treasure boxes, photo frames or notebooks will be handy and popular

And one more Stampin’ Up! Convention detail… this yummy bouquet from Edible Arrangements was delivered to me yesterday! Thanks so much to all my LovenStampfuls and Impeckable Stampers friends for the gift! You all inspire me so much…and the fruit basket has been a huge hit with my family :-)
