Have you been checking out Tunnel Cards lately? They’re all the rage right now… here’s a fun spin on the concept. Try a Triple Tunnel Card! This one uses the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and the matching Holiday Ornaments Framelits (see the special online).
Love it! Be sure to check out the directions for Tunnel Cards on my blog – and instead of a single hole, cut yourself 2, 3 or even more places for a message or image to peek through. Here are the directions for the basic tunnel card.
For the best effect, just make sure you place the framelits or punches so that they overlap the center score line of the card — that way they’ll give you the most ‘pop’ for your punch

Has fall hit your part of the country yet? We’re right in the midst of it here in central Illinois, and this past weekend I went with my daughter’s Brownie troop for a fall camping trip. We slept in platform tents in the 40+ degree weather, and it poured on us all day Saturday, but the girls and moms alike had a great time! And the fall leaves were gorgeous, even if they were a bit damp.
The Gently Falling stamp set is one of my favorite leaf sets of all time — it’s got a great sketch style and is perfect for LOTS of great leaf techniques (see the full set online).
I only used the solid stamps from the set as part of this card, and the Triple Panel Technique is perfect for a bold stamp set like this one.
Triple Panel Technique:
- Stamp to cover a piece of card stock: 3 ¼” x 4 1/8”
- Cut layer into three pieces – 1 3/8” each
- Layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals on your card front, keeping panels in order.
Surprise! This card is also a Tunnel Card – check my instructions for this technique from last week’s post.
This is a great card for a guy, too. It seems like we always need masculine card ideas. Fall leaves and colors make the perfect combination for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. And most guys are pretty excited about the ‘engineering’ of a card too, so Tunnel Cards are perfect!

Do you have a stamp set that’s been on your Wish List for more than a catalog or two, and you just haven’t gotten down to it yet? The Beautiful Season stamp set is that one for me (see the full set online). Or at least it WAS that set, because now I have it on my shelf!
This is a gorgeous set for watercoloring (stay tuned for a Stamps in the Mail Club announcement on watercolor!) but it’s also a perfect detail set for a monochromatic card — it doesn’t need any coloring at all.
The bold Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler colors are paired with the coordinating Snow Festival Designer Series Paper (see the patterns).
And I am in love with my new Window Frames Collection Framelits (see them online). They’re my new favorite frame shape, especially with the coordinating Festive Paper Piercing Pack (see the shapes online), and especially because the Frame Pack can be yours for free during the October Stampin’ Up! special! (see more about the free Festive pack).
This card has a fun surprise inside — it’s a Tunnel Card!
These are surprisingly simple to create. I’ve included some brief directions for this particular card, which folds to a finished 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ size.
- Score a piece of 4 ¼” x 8 1/2” card stock at 4 1/4”
- Cut the inner layer (Whisper White) to 4” x 8 1/4”. Score at 2 1/8″, 4 1/8″ and 6 1/8″
- Cut the center hole around the center score line with a Framelit from the Window Frame Collection set.
- Pierce around the framelit hole with the coordinating Festive Piercing Template. Then assemble layers.
- Remember to keep glue on only the two outside panels of the Whisper White layer (I like the Multipurpose Liquid Glue for this best)
- Add center stamped greeting layer
Here’s a tip for you — let your card dry before you play with it too much. It’s tempting to want to play, but your layers will adhere better in the long run if you give them a chance to dry.
