Watercolor Wonder Crayons: For The Birds

For The Birds: Watercolor Wonder Crayons

For the Birds (see it online) is a great all-occasions stamp set, plus it’s a perfect one for perfecting your watercolor skills! My absolute favorite tools for watercolor are the Watercolor Wonder Crayons (Brights Collection here - see them online – 119804) and the Aqua Painters (see them online – 103954).

You’ll have the best luck with your watercolor if you use really nice watercolor paper (like from Stampin’ Up!).

For ink, my preference is definitely the Jet Black Staz-On Ink (see it online)

Want to learn more about watercolor crayons? Here’s my Video Tutorial for watercoloring! Or I also have a 3-in-1 Video Tutorial for Watercolor Wonder Crayons.

Happy stamping!

Say Yes To The Dress: All Dressed Up

You know you’ve been thinking about this set of Dress Up Framelits Dies (see them online – 130101) and the coordinating All Dressed Up stamp set (see it online – 129174).

This card is a step up from the All Dressed Up card I shared last week — the fold of the card stock adds an extra pop to an already “wow” card!

Here are the easy directions for the Fancy Fold Flap card:

  1. Cut a ¼ sheet of card stock for the base (Primrose Petals) and layer as desired. Used here: More Amore Designer Series Paper (see the paper online – 129309)
  2. Cut a long piece for the center flap (Pool Party) at 3” x 11”.
  3. Decorate layers then fold long piece in half and attach around the back of the ¼ sheet layer.

Don’t forget, you can get the stamp set and the framelits together at a 15% discount!  (check that online – 131095 for clear mount)

And while you’re thinking FAIRY TALES… don’t forget to sign up for the Paper Pumpkin subscription! You’ll want to sign up now to get your monthly kit in the mail — a sort of Cinderella’s pumpkin, turned into something beautiful by her Fairy Godmother.

I’d love to be your Fairy Godmother of Stamping!  Be sure to visit www.MyPaperPumpkin.com and click “get it” at the bottom left corner. Select me (Meg Loven, IL) as your demonstrator.

Then drop me an email to let me know that you’ve signed up, and I’ll have a special gift for you to go with your kit!

All Dressed Up – a fashionably belated birthday

I think the inside of this card is the best.  One of the greetings included with the All Dressed Up stamp set (see it online – 129174) reads, “happy birthday! fashionably late…but worth the wait.”  Gotta love a fun belated birthday card, right?  It’s the birthday that keeps on giving!

Love the dress form and the die-cut dress shape?  This sweet card also uses the Dress Up Framelits Dies (see them online – 130101) to cut the dress from the More Amore Designer Series Paper (see the paper online – 129309), which is definitely NOT just for Valentine’s Day!

Better bonus?  You can get the stamp set and the framelits together at a 15% discount!  (check that online – 131095)

And if you’ve got a wedding coming up this spring or summer, can’t you just see how perfect this set is for bridal shower treats? Favors?  Thank you notes?

Oh Whale & Cloudy Day: Gotta love the match

Really?  Don’t you just love it when your supplies go together perfectly?  This card was so much fun to create…it practically made itself!  With the Sunshine & Sprinkles Product Suite (see it online) the whole thing popped together.  And of course the sunny colors are perfect for combating our weather today… gray with a -15 wind chill!

Here’s what I used:

Really that pretty much covers it!  I added a couple of Rhinestone Jewels as part of the water spout, because every card needs bling.  But how fun is it that the stamped waves match the Designer Series Paper?

And could you think of a stamp set cuter or more perfect for Baby Shower favors or invitations?  Or Welcome Baby cards?

Between the Cloudy Day texture folder and the possibilities for all-occasions cards with this stamp set, I can hardly wait to keep playing.  I’m sure that desire has nothing to do with the fact that it’s freezing outside and it’s a perfect time to stay in for some stamping :)

Warm & Cozy: Make A Mitten Christmas Cards

I love the warm fuzzies that come from slipping on a new pair of hand-knit mittens for the first time.  All snuggly warm… well if you’re not knitting this season (or if you are!) then you can STAMP your mittens with the Make A Mitten stamp set (see it online).

Here’s a simple & fun idea using the mittens on a card embossed with the Northern Flurries Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (see it online).

More good news!!  The folder is actually on sale thru November 28th for 25% off!

The greeting on this card fits perfectly – it’s from the More Merry Messages stamp set (see it online).

Pretty in Pink: Ornament Keepsakes Christmas Idea

Ever wanted to break out of the Christmas box?  Try something a bit different for a card?  Here’s a fun alternate color scheme for a card — pink & white.  With the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set, there’s no doubt the card is for Christmas.  But the glittery fun colors give this set a whole different look.

The Ornament Keepsakes and coordinating Holiday Ornaments Framelits are available as a bundle – and you get both the stamps and the framelits for 15% off when you buy them together! (see the special online)  Plus don’t forget about the special for October.  If you’re getting the stamps and framelits, it makes even more sense to add the paper and get the Festive Piercing Pack for free! (only in October – see details)

The design of the Peace on Earth stamp from Greetings of the Season (see it online) is a perfect complement for this color set.

Favorite New Set: Christmas Deer

I love this guy!  Here’s a gorgeous majestic buck with antlers curling around in elegant designs.  Ah, the beauty.  And then we go and hang ornaments on him.  Seems like a funny way to treat a deer, but hey, it’s an effective design!

There are a few tips for this Christmas Deer card (see the set online), with a fun fold design using the Labels Collection Framelits (see them online).  The card layout is based on one by Connie Fitzgerald.

For the deer background: Cut a piece of scrap paper one framelit smaller than the shape.  Use it as a mask and use a Color Spritzer (new – see them online) to add a light background shading.  I mixed one drop of Early Espresso Ink Refill with rubbing alcohol for the color here.

For the Early Espresso layer: Use a textured embossing folder (see them online) with the new Core’dinations Card Stock (love this stuff! — see colors online), then sand to reveal the lighter core color.

This is one of the cards from my Christmas Card Stamp A Stack last night — if you missed it, be sure to sign up for the October session! (details here online)

Short & Sweet Birthdays: Moving Forward

Need a quick birthday idea?  Here’s a fun card using the Big Shot for the shape and the background, and a sweet stamp set for the design: Moving Forward (see it online).

The Moving Forward set is a great all-occasion stamp set, plus when you purchase it, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  To date, Stampin’ Up! has donated well over $1 million to RMHC from the sale of a special stamp set each year.

Ronald even attended the Stampin’ Up! Convention one year to help kick off the sponsorship program!
