French Foliage - part of the LovenStamps Retiring List Rewind (don't miss it)

Have you been watching my LovenStamps Retiring List Rewind posts?  Here’s another of my favorite stamp sets that will be going away: French Foliage (121166 – see it online).

This is a great set for masculine cards — cards for guys.  Here are more guy card ideas on my blog.

Also retiring? The Scallop Square Die! (see it online - 115950) I LOVE it for card bases, and to create the card itself (here are some project ideas).

Button Buddies Note Cards - sweet, simple and about to retire!

It’s time for my Retiring Set Rewind!  There are so many fabulous stamp sets about to retire, and I don’t want any stampers to miss out on getting them before they’re gone.  Top of the list for today? It’s Button Buddies (see it online), as the cutest stamp set with the most possibilities for quick & easy cards.

Plus the Brights Buttons Assortment is one of the items available at a discount (40% off while supplies last! – 119747) on the Retiring Accessories “Something For Everyone” sale (learn more about that list).

These sweet cards were created with a Note Card & Envelope base (also retiring!! see them online)

To make these clean & simple cards, you’ll need:

Actually, if you’re thinking about joining my Stampin’ Up! family, this is a great set of supplies to include in your Starter Kit!

Here are the project directions for the Marker to Stamp Technique on these cards:

  1. Take your markers and color directly on the stamps — as many colors as you like.
  2. When you’re ready to stamp, gently breathe over the stamp and your breath with reactivate any ink that may have begun to dry.
  3. Stamp on your note card and use the Mini Glue Dots to add buttons with Baker’s Twine.

Super simple!! If you are looking for a fun project to try with friends at home over the weekend, Spring Break or Summer vacation, here is a great way to get started!

You can order from my website using the links above. I can’t wait to see the cards you create!

Be sure to check the retiring accessories and stamp set lists for other things you’ll want.

Mixed Bunch: The Elegant Elizabeth

Sometimes lots of color just isn’t what I want in a card.  In that case, I like to pull out my monochromatic color schemes (here are a bunch of past samples) and have fun.  If I’m feeling a little wild and crazy, I might add a punch of color, as I did here with this card using the Mixed Bunch stamp set (see it online) and the A La Carte Elizabeth stamp (see it online).  Elizabeth is a great stamp — it’s there under the punched flower, and it helps to anchor the flower to the card.  Visually, that is.

That little red button makes a huge difference on this card.  It’s from the Brights Buttons Assortment (see them online).  The extra burst of color adds an exciting touch to the monochromatic color scheme.

There are several fun tools & stamp sets on this card, too:

  • Mixed Bunch stamp set
  • the matching Blossom Punch (see it online)
  • Wonderfully Worn background (for the little dots — see it online)
  • Adorning Accents Edgelits (for the scallop border — see it online)
  • First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper (the underneath layer — see it online)

And yes, it’s true that I’m hopelessly addicted to the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the coordinating Blossom Punch.  If you’d like more ideas, here are some on my blog.

Happy Stamping!

SAB: Sprinkled Expressions Congratulations

Looking for a fun & quick card using the Sprinkled Expressions Sale-A-Bration stamp set?  (learn more about Sale-A-Bration) Here’s a simple one made on a 3 x 6″ finished card.  Start with a 12 x 12″ piece of Basic Black card stock, cut it into quarters, then fold each 1/4 in half to make 4 cards.

It’s hard to see in this photo, but the bottom Daffodil Delight part of the card is textured using the Big Shot and the Stripes Textured Impressions Folder (see it online).  The stamps are both from the Sprinkled Expressions stamp set (free with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration).

Be sure to check out my other Sale-A-Bration project ideas!

Happy Stamping!

Spice Cake Gift Boxes: sounds yummy to me…

Alas, there’s no actual cake involved in this project, unless of course some fabulous blog reader decides to send me cake… just saying…  But the Designer Series Paper here is the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper (see it online) from the Holiday Mini Catalog (browse online).

The stamped leaf at the top of the box is from the 2-step Gently Falling stamp set (see it online), stamped in More Mustard and Soft Suede to match the Spice Cake Designer Fabric (see it online) and the giant Spice Cake Designer Button (see it online).

The box pleat folds around the edges of the box are easy to accomplish with the help of the new Simply Scored Scoring Tool (see it online).  Each ‘box’ of the pleat is 1/4″ deep, so set up your Simply Scored and score at 1/4″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″, 2-3/4″, 3-3/4″, 4″, 5″, etc. for the length of the paper.  Another tip — be sure to attach your Designer Series Paper to the card stock strip before you begin scoring.  That way both pieces will be scored exactly the same and folding will be easier.

Fold to create the box pleats, then adhere to your Kraft Gift Box with Sticky Strip.  Looking for more Gift Box ideas?  Be sure to check them out on my blog! (click here for ideas)

Check out the Inspiration & Idea Sheet selections

For this Bliss card, I used colors from the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper (see it online — from the Occasions Mini Catalog): Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, and Early Espresso.  The greeting stamp (love life…live life) is from one of my favorite new sets — You’re a Gem (see it online).

** Technique Tip ** The butterfly is highlighted with the Spotlighting technique to create a focal point:

  1. Stamp the butterfly from Bliss first in Early Espresso on the background
  2. Stamp it again in Not Quite Navy on a piece of scrap paper
  3. Punch part of the butterfly with a 1″ Circle Punch
  4. Mount with a Stampin Dimensional exactly over the same portion of the background image

Have fun browsing the Sale-A-Bration Mini Catalog and planning your first order!  Pick out which (or all!) of the Sale-A-Bration gifts you’d like first.  I’ll be ready to share an Idea & Inspiration Sheet with you for each $50 you order!
