Creative Card Shapes: Oval Accent Die
Looking for an alternate card shape? Here’s a fun one using your Big Shot dies to cut your card background. Simply fold your card stock and place on the die so the fold is INSIDE the die cut shape. When you cut with the die, your fold will remain and your card is ready to decorate!
The die for this card is the Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die (127005 – see it online).
Perfect for spring, this card features the Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set (see more Betsy’s Blossom card ideas on my blog).
Happy Stamping!

Last Day: Holiday Catalog & Scentsational Season
My friend Becky Strater made these adorable Gift Card holders as a twist on our Stamp Club project from earlier this month (the Punch Art Elf). I loved them so much that I wanted to share them with you. I know Christmas is over, but so (almost!) is the Holiday Catalog. TODAY is the last day to order!
So if you love these little trees, they were cut using the Scentsational Seasons Framelits (love them – see them online – 127814) and today is the last day to order these shapes and the coordinating stamp set.
Did you see how Becky made the 3d trees? She cut out 3 tree shapes from the Framelits: 2 of designer series paper (remove the trunks) and one from Old Olive card stock. Then she folded the designer paper trees in half and glued the shapes together.
Pretty neat, eh? If you’d like the directions for the Two Tags Die gift card holder, they’re here on my blog.
Don’t forget — last day to order these shaped framelits is today!! While you’re at it, be sure to check out the Clearance Rack for extra bonus bargains, while supplies last!

Mr Owl Decorates His Tree: Owl Occasions
The more I’ve played with this little owl guy, the more fun I’ve had! Here’s a combo card using the Owl Occasions stamp set (see it online) and the Merry Minis stamp set (see it online). The ‘tree’ is actually the branch from the Owl Occasions set. Fun, isn’t it?
The ornaments are stamped and punched using the coordinating Merry Minis Punch Pack. Then I used a Stampin’ Write Marker to add the bows and tie the ornaments to the tree.
I also love the way the Oval Accents Die layers perfectly with the Apothecary Accents Framelit.

Primrose Pink Peacocks: World Treasures
The other day I posted a card featuring the World Treasures stamp set (see it online) (check out the card). Today’s project has more of a monochromatic feel. Actually, I love monochromatic projects. Sometimes limiting the color choices can really make the elements of the design or the message of the sentiment pop out of the card. (Check out some other monochromatic projects from my blog.) Monochromatic doesn’t have to mean only black & white — any color will do the job.
The Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Pink colors in this card are both from the new In Color Collection (see it online), and they’re a great combination together.
Other supplies on this card? I used the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (also new — see it) and the Apothecary Accents Framelits (see them online) and the Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die (see it online).

World Treasures: Pretty as a peacock
As a demonstrator, I often participate in idea swaps where I stamp 20 or so of the same card idea, then trade them with 20 other demonstrators so that I end up with 20 new ideas. It’s just one of the things I love about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator — sharing ideas (see other reasons I love it).
This card is one I created for a demonstrator swap before the new catalog came out. The stamp set is World Treasures (see it online) and I love the sentiment almost as much as I love the peacock! World Treasures is from the International Bizaar Product Suite (see it online) and the DSP in this suite is was featured by Stampin’ Up! on our Disney Incentive Trip pillow gifts!
I’m also loving the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder (also new — see it) and the Apothecary Accents Framelits (see them online) which are a perfect match for the shape of the sentiment in this stamp set. Gotta love Stampin’ Up! and the coordinating products!!
The colors here are new In Colors — Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit and Primrose Pink. Yup, same colors that I used yesterday for my Make A Cake birthday tag.
And a nice way to highlight a certain part of a larger stamp — try the Spotlighting Technique. Use a Circle Punch and punch out another image in a different color, then match it up to your main image. (see other examples of the technique from my blog)
Happy Stamping!

Going, Going, Gone: LAST Day is today!
Ooh… exciting times! Do you have everything you *need* from the old Stampin’ Up! Catalog? Because today is the last day to order from the retiring lists of stamps & accessories (sale details — find them here). Tomorrow begins the *NEW* Stampin’ Up! Catalog! Don’t log on too early to see it… I think you’ll be able to browse the new stamps, accessories & more by noon (MT).
My project for today is sort of “out with the old” and “in with the new”. This past weekend we hosted a ‘bon voyage’ picnic for my friend and fellow SU demonstrator Kim Peck, as she moves across the country. Anyone need a great house in Mahomet, IL? I know a fabulous one for sale!
Anyway, I decided we should have flowers with a tag, so I used the the fabulous new Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set (get it as part of Stamps in the Mail Club!) and the fabulous (but retiring!) Curvy Verses stamp set (see it online — only today!).
The verse reads, “Time passes, but friendship stays right where it’s put”. The bird is stamped in my fav new In Color — Summer Starfruit. And the tag is cut with my fav new Big Shot accessory — Apothecary Accents Framelits.
So be sure to check the ideas I’ve been sharing for the retiring stamps and accessories, and be sure to place any orders before Midnight (MT) tonight!
Happy Stamping!
