Language of Friendship: Retiring List Rewind

Language of Friendship & the Bird Builder Punch: Card Ideas for Retiring stamp sets

Yesterday was my A La Card Class. I make up boxes of supplies with pre-cut card stock and a sample for each card idea.  Everyone gets to pick what cards they make and however many they want of each one, until the box is empty.

We had a great time, and this card ranked as one of the top favorites.  It features the (retiring May 31!) Language of Friendship stamp set (see it online – 122752) and the Bird Builder Punch (see the Bird Builder Punch online – 117191).

Bird Builder Punch card ideaThe bird looks like it takes forever to cut out…but it doesn’t!  It could hardly be simpler: just stamp the images, then punch out the bird, wing and branch all at once.

The bird punch isn’t retiring — it will be in the new catalog on June 1st, but get ready to say good-bye to Language of Friendship unless you order it soon!

Here’s an idea for a scrapbook page on my blog with the Language of Friendship stamp set.

**Product Tip:**  See the curl on the Baker’s Twine that I used on this card?  It’s easy!  You can use your fingernail or a pair of sharp scissors (like your Paper Snips) to curl the Twine just like you’d do for the curly ribbon that’s used on gift wrap packages!

Puzzle Piece Resist Technique – free printable tutorial

Swallowtail Puzzle Piece Resist - free printable technique tutorial

What’s more fun than a cool technique?  A free printable technique tutorial!  This Puzzle Piece Resist technique was shared with us by demonstrator Linda Yearsley at our Spring Into Stamping demo training event last weekend, and I loved it so much that I created this card with the Swallowtail stamp for my Stamp Club last week. (see Swallowtail online – 129216)

The steps are simple for Puzzle Piece Resist:

  1. Heat emboss image in white on white
  2. Use framelits to cut layers (all at once)
  3. Sponge layers in contrasting colors
  4. Assemble the puzzle

And the results are striking!  Be sure to download my free printable tutorial for the Puzzle Piece Resist technique.

Supplies: Stamp – Swallowtail, Papillon Potpourri, Amazing Family; Ink: Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Versamark; Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Calypso Coral; Accessories: Heat Tool, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Rhinestone Jewels, Big Shot, Floral Frames Framelits;

8th Annual Spring Into Stamping: Ideas Galore!

8th Annual Spring Into Stamping Demonstrator Training Event

What a GREAT weekend I had! This was the weekend for our 8th Annual Spring Into Stamping demonstrator training event.  SO much fun to be had when demonstrators gather together!

sis-on-stage-demonstration

The day was filled to the brim with training tips (thank you to the fabulous Laura Barto for sharing class ideas), great Make N Take projects, gorgeous demonstrations and a chance to gather with friends from around the country.

I even ran a game show – Family Feud, Stampin’ Style!

sis-ideas-for-my-digital-studio

The demonstrator fair was a big hit – with stations set up to learn about stamping techniques or other topics like using My Digital Studio (that’s me behind the table).

And my friend and fellow LovenStampfuls demonstrator Linda Yearsley showed a WONDERFUL technique called Puzzle Piece Resist.  I wrote up a summary with pictures from her booth here.  Definitely watch my blog for more ideas with this technique – I’m loving it!

Puzzle Piece Resist Technique Tutorial

And of course it’s hardly a day of stamping when there aren’t door prizes — free stamps!  So much excitement, it’s hard to contain :)

winning-a-door-prize

It was a fabulous day — with MANY talented demonstrators helping to put it all together.  About 30% of the demonstrators attending helped in one way or another — assembling Make N Take packets, sharing a stamping technique, organizing our Shoebox Swap, etc.

A big thank you to ALL who helped us put the day together, and to all who attended!  I’m looking forward to next year’s Spring Into Stamping already!

Of course I have to mention… want to join us next year?  Be sure to learn more about joining my LovenStampfuls demonstrator family, and let me know if you have questions!

Hearts A Flutter: Pretty all year long

Hearts A Flutter with Doily - not just for Valentines

Nope, it’s not just for Valentine’s Day!  The Hearts A Flutter Bundle (see it online – 131097) with the Hearts A Flutter stamp set plus the coordinating Framelits is great for birthday cards, girlfriend cards, pretty much anything all year long.

Do you like the effect on the little banner?  I used two layers to make that piece — Whisper White for the bottom (stamped with the heart in Island Indigo) and a piece of Vellum Card Stock for an overlay.

Stamping Trick:

Adhesives show THROUGH the vellum when you stick it down.  I know, big bummer.

Here’s the trick — cover your adhesive spot with something…like a Large Rhinestone!

Creative Card Shapes: Oval Accent Die

Alternate card shape - use the Oval Accent Die with Betsy's Blossoms

Oval Accent Die - use it to make a card shapeLooking for an alternate card shape?  Here’s a fun one using your Big Shot dies to cut your card background.  Simply fold your card stock and place on the die so the fold is INSIDE the die cut shape.  When you cut with the die, your fold will remain and your card is ready to decorate!

The die for this card is the Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die (127005 – see it online).

Perfect for spring, this card features the Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set (see more Betsy’s Blossom card ideas on my blog).
