Betsy’s Blossoms: super for strong colors
Sometimes simple is just what you need! Here’s a card with only 2 colors — Basic Black and Summer Starfruit. The Betsy’s Blossom stamp set (see it online) is great for bold images and strong colors.
Love the banner and the stamp to match the shaped card stock? Here’s what you’d need to make these shaped banners at home:
- Big Shot (see it online) – 113439
- Bitty Banners Framelits (see them online) — 129267
- Itty Bitty Banners stamp set (see it online) — 126257 (clear) or 126255 (wood)

Creative Card Shapes: Oval Accent Die
Looking for an alternate card shape? Here’s a fun one using your Big Shot dies to cut your card background. Simply fold your card stock and place on the die so the fold is INSIDE the die cut shape. When you cut with the die, your fold will remain and your card is ready to decorate!
The die for this card is the Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die (127005 – see it online).
Perfect for spring, this card features the Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set (see more Betsy’s Blossom card ideas on my blog).

Sale-A-Bration: Tessellation Cards are perfect for guys
Looking for a guy card that doesn’t feature flowers or cutesy images? Try a tessellation-style image, like this one from the Madison Avenue stamp set (available for free only thru the end of this week – 129660).
What’s a tessellation? Good question! A tessellation is a repeating pattern where a symmetrical design element fits together over and over again – kind of like the alhambra element above. Want to learn more about tessellations? Here’s an art site devoted to tessellations.
The little punch pieces that fit perfectly with this stamp set are from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (see it online – 118309).

Paint Chip Technique: Feeling Sentimental
Looking for a fun new technique to add to your stamping repertoire? The Paint Chip Technique is a great companion for bold stamps or those with enough dense detail to be see easily on a busy background. Feeling Sentimental (see it online – 129630 – it’s a free Sale-A-Bration selection!) is a great stamp set choice.
This technique is just fun! You actually do it with masking tape…the kind used for painting walls. Plus it’s a great technique for guy cards, and I get lots of requests for those!
Paint Chip Technique Directions:
- Rip a piece of masking tape wider than your card stock.
- Press it into an ink pad, inking thoroughly.
- Press the inked tape onto the bottom of a Whisper White card stock.
- Lift the tape and press it again to make the next strip. Repeat until the card stock is filled. The color will lighten each time, creating a paint strip effect.
Super simple! And very effective — try it in a variety of colors. These two colors are both from the 2012-2014 In Color Collection: Midnight Muse and Gumball Green.

New Product Feature: Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit
What do we all need? More time. Really, who can’t agree with that?
The good news is that you CAN get more time. I can help you!
Think about the time you spend sitting down to craft. How much time do you spend:
- searching for coordinating materials?
- trying 3-4-5-6 different colors of designer paper to see what matches?
- deciding what die cut embellishment to add?
What if it was REALLY easy to skip all those steps? Hello!! More CRAFTING time to enjoy putting your projects together!
One of my favorite Spring Catalog products for making this easy is the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit (see it online -131395). Here’s what you get:
- 9 embossed paper tags (the cute Crumb Cake ones)
- 9 fabric cover brads (*TIP* – dye them by pressing into your ink pad!)
- Precut paper flower pieces (tons and tons and tons of them)
- 9 pieces of Vanilla butcher’s twine
- “Just for You” wood-mount stamp (exclusive to this kit)
And the whole kit is only $12.95! Really, it’s pretty clever to put it all together and make it easy to use.
Love the designer paper in this project? It’s Summer Starfruit (to match the brad on the flower), and it’s from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (SAB – free item with a $50 order– #127540).
(Or you could always sign up for my Stamps in the Mail Club, which is a whole set of projects ready-to-create, direct to your mailbox.)

Sweet & Simple: Vintage Verses Sale-A-Bration Idea
Sometimes it’s the “sweet & simple” cards that you need — like when you’ve just broken your leg and are finding that you suddenly need a lot of cards to thank all the wonderful people in your life who help you out. Just saying
I found this sample in my photos from the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference back in January, shared by Sara Douglass. It uses the gorgeous “thanks” stamp from the Vintage Verses stamp set (see it - 129636).
Love it as much as I do? No problem! You can add this set to your order for free when you pick out $50 in other stampin supplies on your online order.

Card Ministry: Fellowship in crafting
We gathered recently for a lunch hour of fellowship creating hand-stamped cards. No prerequisites — no stamping skill required! We finished up about 100 birthday and anniversary cards that will be sent out over the next month or two, using the Everything Eleanor stamp set (see it online - 124164) and the Perfectly Penned stamp set (see it online 122892).
I love the Everything Eleanor set for Express Stamping.
Express stamping is what you do when you need a great card but you only have a few minutes. Or when you need to make 100 of something!
To Express Stamp here are three simple steps:
- Stamp
- Layer
- Embellish
You’re all set!

Elf on the Shelf: Punch Art for Gift Cards
Do you have an Elf on the Shelf at your house? Our elf is named Freddyting, and the kids love to check out his daily adventures. So this year I decided to create some Elf on the Shelf gift card holders using the Two Tags Die (see it online – 115954) and my Stampin’ Up! punches.
The gift card holder itself is simple:
- Cut Gumball Green card stock to 3-3/4″ x 7″. Score the card stock at 1/2″ and 3-3/4″. Fold into a flat tube and adhere on the tab.
- Use the Big Shot and the Two Tags Die to cut out a Real Red large tag. Cut another large tag bottom and trim at the score line. Glue to the edges of the tag to make a pocket.
- Add ribbon & Gumball Green Designer Series Pattern Paper and decorate with your elf! (click below for a larger picture)
Here are the links for the punches (gotta love the Red Glimmer Paper 121790):
- Full Heart Punch (119883)
- Ornament Punch (119847)
- Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (teeny scallop & circle) (118309)
- Modern Label Punch (119849)
- 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch (cut in 1/2) (119854)
- Merry Minis Punch Pack (ornament) (126882)
Need an excuse to get the Two Tags Die for yourself for Christmas? Here are more ideas from my blog to inspire you!

Perfect Holiday Treats: Cute, Clever & Quick with the Petal Card Punch
Looking for a fun treat to make for holiday gifts? You know, the ones you always think about making to hand out to neighbors you see at the Post Office, or the clerk at the grocery store who always says something nice to you?
Oh wait – you haven’t gotten around to making those? Really? Well let me help you!! This is a really quick, really easy project that doesn’t use many supplies and is sure to put a smile on the face and in the heart of anyone who receives it from you!
Plus you can make about 20 of them in under an hour. That’s 20 smiles to share – won’t it feel great to share that happiness?
(click the photo for a larger view)
See how they fit together? The Petal Card Double Punch (see it online) is a perfect size for making little treat holders for the “minis” size of chocolates (Mmmmm….).
Here’s what you’ll do (picture yourself sharing these with friends!):
- Punch two petal card pieces for each candy. Place the candy inside one, put dabs of glue on three tabs of the other punched piece. Fold up and hold to adhere.
- Punch out ovals with the Small Oval Punch (see it online) from the Champagne Glimmer Paper (see it online)
- Stamp little trees (or another design) with the Merry Minis stamp set (see it online) and punch them with the matching Merry Minis Punch Pack (see them online).
- Layer all the pieces and put three treats into a perfectly sized 4 x 6″ Cellophane Bag (see them online).
- Tie with a piece of the sweet 1/4″ Sweater Trim (see it online).
- Add a cute little tag — if you don’t know who you’re going to give this to, then write something like “For You” instead of a specific name. Add a glimmer star with the Merry Minis Punch Pack (from above) and you’re all done!
So what do you think? I know you can do it!! If you make little treats to share this season, let me know – I’d love to hear about the smiles you’re spreading! And if you see me at the post office or at the IGA, maybe I’ll still have some left to share with you in person.
Looking for color ideas? Here’s what I used (click to shop for each):
Gumball Green: Stampin’ Write Marker (126856), Card Stock (126840), Classic Pad (126861)
Cherry Cobbler: Card Stock (119685), Sweater Trim (129938)
Very Vanilla Card Stock (101650)
