Sew Sweet Stitches: Little Girl’s Apron

Last week my daughter and I were invited to a party where the girls were supposed to wear an apron and help serve snacks to the moms.  Lots of fun, but we didn’t have a little apron on hand.  What’s a stamping Mom to do?

Make an apron, of course!

I googled ‘little girl apron pattern’ and came up with a fabulous tutorial by Cindy and I based my apron on her pattern.

The apron uses the Sweet Stitches Designer Series Fabric (see it online).  The pieces for the pocket were cut with my Big Shot Die Cut Machine (see it online), using the Scallop Square Die (see it online) for the pocket.

The letter ‘A’ for Abby is from the Serif Alphabet Die set (see it online).  And of course the matching Daffodil Delight button is from the Sweet Stitches Designer Big Buttons (see it online).

I started by cutting strips (4″ wide) for my ruffle and waistband.  The ruffle pieces are 4 x 28″ and I cut two and seamed them in the middle.  The strips for the waist ties were 4 x 18″ and I cut two and seamed those in the middle, too.  You may need to cut your strips to 4 x 28″ for longer ties–these fit my daughter, but her waist is fairly small.

Have fun with this project!  The steps are below in picture form.

Happy Stamping!
