Happy Fall Decor: For All Things Door Hanger

For All Things: Home Decor DIY Idea - Doorknob hanger by LovenStamps for Stamps in the Mail Club

Have you hung your fall decor yet? Something fun to say, “Welcome Autumn!”? You’ll definitely want to add this project to your home – and maybe make a few to share with friends or neighbors. The basic banner pieces are so simple: just pennants from the Celebrations Basics Kit (133007). And since you get 15 in the kit for $14.95, they’re an economical way to share your joy of the season.

This project features the For All Things stamp set (135155) from the Holiday Catalog (browse online). And this particular project is one that you can get with my September Stamps in the Mail Club kit.

If you’re viewing via email subscription, click here to see the post & video directly on my blog or here directly on YouTube

So what do you think? Are you inspired to get crafty and make a fall banner or two? These would be so much fun for an event, or for table decor at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Just change up the colors and stamps and you could even use them as a clever baby or wedding shower decoration.

Be sure to check out all 4 Stamps in the Mail Club projects from September. If you’d like to get a Stamps in the Mail Club kit this month, drop me a note and we’ll get you set up!

Stampin Techniques 201: Faux Watercolor

For All Things: Faux Watercolor techinque & video tutorial, by LovenStamps for Stamps in the Mail Club with Meg

Sometimes it’s fun to bend the rules a bit and try something a little bit different. Smeary images? Oh yes! Let’s try it and call it a technique… how about Faux Watercolor? Trust me. You’re going to like it! (And we’re not talking about eating your vegetables here, as in, “You’re going to LIKE it!”)

I’m using the For All Things stamp set (135155) from the Holiday Catalog (browse online). This stamp set is also the one that you’ll get with my September Stamps in the Mail Club kit. Never fear, it’s not too late to get your own kit and make these projects at home. Just drop me a note if you’d like one, or check the details on my website: Stamps in the Mail Club.

The Faux Watercolor Technique is simple:

  1. Stamp on Watercolor Paper
  2. Spray with water
  3. Allow to dry

That’s about it! There are definitely a few tips though – and you can see ‘em in action in my video tutorial below!

If you’re viewing via email subscription, click here to see the post & video directly on my blog or here directly on YouTube

This is one of the 4 projects from my September Stamps in the Mail Club Kit. So if you’d like to make this card at home (plus 3 other fun projects), then be sure to fill out the web form here. I’ll send you a PayPal invoice and your stamps, ink and projects kit will be on their way to your doorstep!

I’d love to stamp with you by mail!

Top 5 Blackberry Bliss Color Combos

For All Things: Tag front card by LovenStamps for Stamps in the Mail Club with Meg

My favorite new color this year? Hands down, it’s Blackberry Bliss. You can tell, because whenever my fingers are inky, they’re dotted with this yummy dark purple. And I’m not even a purple person! I’m usually more of a earth tones person, but this Blackberry Bliss has me converted. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re going to want to place an order!

One of the things I love about Blackberry Bliss is the wide range of color combos that work so beautifully. Here are some specific suggestions:

Top 5 Blackberry Bliss Color Combos (from LovenStamps)

  1. Blackberry Bliss, Honey Hello, Basic Gray
  2. Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist, Mossy Meadow
  3. Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight
  4. Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive, Soft Suede
  5. Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand

Really, you can go from funky to masculine with Blackberry Bliss. It’s turning out to be a versatile color! The only thing I haven’t seen yet is a Blackberry Bliss car… so if you’ve seen one on the road somewhere, be sure to leave me a comment so I can be on the lookout!

Here’s a unique card front idea using the For All Things stamp set (135155). This is one of my September Stamps in the Mail Club projects. Be sure to let me know if you’d like a kit!

Be sure to add this card front layout to your personal design library – LovenStamps Card Sketch #178.

If you’re viewing via email subscription, click here to see the post & video directly on my blog or here directly on YouTube

Are you convinced? Have you already given Blackberry Bliss a try? If you have, I’d love to hear your favorite color combos! Be sure to leave me a comment!

Card Layout #177: Faux Polaroid Effect

Stampin' Up! set - For All Things: Faux Polaroid card layout - Sketch 177 from LovenStamps

Layout #177?  What happened to 176?  175?  Okay, you caught me, I just picked a number.  I have over 1300 posts on my blog, so it’s probably more like #1177.  But that just sounds overwhelming…so let’s go with #177 and get started with another video tutorial!

This is a terrific card layout though.  I’ve CASE’d it from the current Stampin’ Up! catalog (drop me a note to ask for yours if you don’t have one yet!) on page 104 if you want to check it out.  Or just watch the video — I’ll show you the original card at the end.

The card features the For All Things stamp set (135155) from the Holiday Catalog (browse online).  This stamp set is also the one that you’ll get with my September Stamps in the Mail Club kit.

I’ll share a few tips for fabulous collage stamping in this video – so if you ever feel like your collages just don’t come out quite right, then you’ll want to grab a pencil and take some notes as you watch!

Beware of the Potluck: Gluten-Free Yummies

Peace, Love & Cupcakes - gluten free & dairy free signs for potluck awareness, by LovenStamps

Whether it’s a peanut-free zone in the school lunchroom or a gluten-free menu at a restaurant, it’s becoming more and more common for people to have limitations on what they can eat.

And potlucks are a No Man’s Land for those who have serious allergies.

Solution?  Bring your own treats, and mark them clearly! Turns out that gluten-free or dairy-free or egg-free food doesn’t have to be disgusting.  In fact, these cupcakes I made this summer were a big hit with the gluten-eating crowd, too!

And really, who could resist a cupcake marked with a sweet sign created with the Peace, Love & Cupcakes stamp set (134162)?

Leave me a comment if you are a dairy-free or gluten-free fan!  And yes, I cheated a little on these cupcakes.  The cupcakes were from a box (don’t judge me) by Cherrybrook Kitchen, available at our grocery stores locally.
